  NGO Goals

The Anawim Trust is involved in projects that aim at empowerment and education of women and children, while emphasizing the importance of the environment and sustainable activities. As part of these goals, the Anawim Trust wishes to initiate a micro-credit scheme that the women self help groups may avail of.

Anawim is working among women in 55 villages in Thiruchendur Taluk in Tuticorin District. It has a urban program in Chennai sub urban area in 15 villages in Kanchipuram District. Its main work is relating to women, children and environment. Anawim is a registered organization located in Thiruchendur with the branch office in Pasumpon nagar, Perumpakkam , Chennai.

The Anawim Trust has been successful in coordinating women self help groups, and in running type writing centers and spoken English programs in the villages on the outskirts of Madras. Their success has proved infectious with women from more villages joining the bandwagon of self help groups engaged in various remunerative and sustainable activities like paper making, and handicrafts. The micro-credit initiative is aimed at establishing a corpus from which women may borrow capital for such small scale, low risk, sustainable projects. Apart from empowerment on a personal and social level, it establishes their credit worthiness with national banks where the corpus will be placed.
