The primary goal of LHA is to facilitate a healthy transition and provide assistance as these refugees work to rebuild their lives and preserve their sacred culture. Since its inception, LHA has been organizing volunteers to help with this worthy cause. In 2000, LHA successfully partnered with the Tulane University School of Social Work, and has been accompanying its students to India with the aim of positively impacting the lives of these refugees.   Summary

 

We are now providing 6 full time paid staff positions to members of the Tibetan Refugee community. Along with all the services provided previously, we now offer office space and assist with a non-profit community newspaper, operate a Tibetan Cooking school and offer Tibetan Language classes. The first Massage Training course is underway and there are Yoga classes happening on the rooftop. With the increased # of volunteers, offering a wide variety of skills, we are reaching out to many new areas of need throughout the community.
