A quick survey was made in the Pabal region where Vigyan Ashram has been working. A large number of poultries, workshops and other small enterprises were started by the ex-ashramites, old students and staff.
It is estimated that around 800 entrepreneurs are developed from March 2003 by people associated with Vigyan Ashram.
Many of the students have started their own enterprises.

Vigyan Ashram was founded in 1983 by Dr. Kalbag with a vision to empower the rural youth through activity based learning. The ashram carries out variety of activities in education, rural technology and innovation, media creation and Information Technology. The main activity is a diploma course in basic rural technology. This course integrates classical education with hands-on learning programs to impart knowledge that is closer to real life. The learning and innovation is done at very low-cost so that it becomes viable in the rural parts of India. Vigyan Ashram has also developed several technologies using the research and development work done through its education system.
