This organization has a preferential option for the marginalized sick from the beginning and currently we are involved in HIV/AIDS issues in various countries. In India the Camillians began their activities in 1997 with the starting of Snehadaan in Bangalore as a Care and Support Centre for PLHA. The aim of the Trust (Sneha Charitable Trust) is to provide holistic and comprehensive health care to people in general and the marginalized sick in particular. Keeping with our tradition to care for the dying, the organization gives a priority for the palliative care of PLHA in their end stages.

With the increasing number of People infected with HIV&AIDS, the need for Care and Support to PLWHAs and their communities are greater than ever before. From its experience Snehadaan has seen that the concept of HIV as a chronic illness that needs a continuum of care is not addressed in a comprehensive manner. The interventions that are taking place currently are more of an isolated nature and not really on a continual manner. In addition to the ever-growing list of new hospital admissions, there is a concern that more and more people are being readmitted after a period of time. Moreover, the physical condition in which many of the PLWHA seek readmission is a cause for concern, as they tend to wait until they are in very sick.
