To put science and technology in the service of India's poorest people. To enhance self-reliance by building on traditional knowledge and experiences, upgrading local skills, using local materials and generating employment opportunities.

  Achievements

 

Recognising PSI's work in participatory water resources development as a model for other organizations to follow, India's Ministry of Rural Development has selected it as a training centre.

  Summary

 

Areas of work: Innovative work in water resources management, environmental quality monitoring and post-disaster reconstruction.

Programs: Capacity building of the poor to prepare plans for their own development, to implement them and then to manage the assets created.
