  NGO Goals

1. The Human Shield Experiment : As I reported before--it is going on in one village, but they haven''''t yet been granted permission to visit the other village. At this stage, their volunteers have recieved direct death threats from the Salwa Judum folks, if they try to visit this second village. As it is, things are incredibly tough in the first village also--and so they are most probably just going to pull in their forces and focus on making more...

  Achievements

"Successfully challenged murder charges against three tribal people, got National Human Rights Commission to acknowledge people's case against the police and that police have registered false FIRs against tribals."

  Summary

VCA is working with ASDS and Sitara on the Andhra side to try and bring the Gotti Koya tribals back to Chhattisgarh. Since AID is already working with ASDS, this might fit in well with that project. I have been in intermittent contact with Himanshu ji and would like to tell him if we need more information about it, or how long it would take us to tell him if we can help. I am quite unfamiliar with the way that AID works, and right now they have a huge need and NO money for this project.
