  NGO Goals

 

 

This is focused across 6 districts of Karnataka, in Southern India and spans the spectrum of prevention of
HIV transmission, to appropriate care and support for the people living with HIV and their families. Through
our work, we reach out to different groups of people; to nearly 10,000 men and women who are at high
risk of being infected by HIV, like those involved in sex work, or sexual minorities, to nearly 13,000 people
living with more...

  Achievements

 

Samraksha was set up in 1993, as the HIV sector of a larger developmental organization called Samuha. It was the first NGO to start working on the issue of HIV in Rural Karnataka. The programmes span the continuum of prevention to Care, and reaches out to different groups who are vulnerable to and impacted by HIV in different ways.

  Summary

 

This is focused across 6 districts of Karnataka, in Southern India and spans the spectrum of prevention of
HIV transmission, to appropriate care and support for the people living with HIV and their families. Through
our work, we reach out to different groups of people; to nearly 10,000 men and women who are at high
risk of being infected by HIV, like those involved in sex work, or sexual minorities, to nearly 13,000 people
living with HIV, their families and friends, to nearly 500 children living with or affected by HIV, as well as
900 village communities which can not only modify their behavior and halt the spread of the virus, but also
help provide adequate care and support for the people living with HIV and their families.
