  Summary

Swami Viveka Youth Movement was begun in 1986 by a group of young doctors in H.D.Kote taluk, Mysore district, Karnataka, a predominantly tribal area. They started with health interventions, and then moved on to include education and community development. They also started fighting for the rights of the tribals, who had been displaced twice, once by the Kabini reservoir and another time by Project Tiger. In the last 18 years they have empowered the tribal communities and have brought change to innumerable lives.
