  Summary

This NGO works in some of the most backwards districts on Angul District in Orissa, inhabited mostly by tribals living in acute poverty. This has led to many socio-economic problems like malnutrition, high infant and maternal mortality rates and poor literacy rates. Since the main livelihood in the area is mainly agrarian, VIRD aims to improve living standards of the region by educating people and communities about sustainable use of natural resources for agriculture. They aim to create self-help groups and educate these groups about their rights and the various programs run by the government they could avail. To start off they aim to conduct a survey and gather baseline data against which the impact of the project would be measured.
