  Summary

- GLSM is a Gandhian organization based in Karjat, Maharashtra. It is run mainly by Mr & Mrs Patil. They run a home for hearing impaired (also speech impaired) and mentally challenged children from surrounding adivasi villages. Here they are initially taught basic vocabulary, lip reading and speech, which most of these children lack since they have been hearing impaired since birth. After about 4 years of schooling with the Patils, they are able to go to regular schools. Living in the city continues to give these children access to some amount of special education available in the public schools as per the Surva Shikshan Abhiyan programme (http://ssa.nic.in).
- AID Boston has been funding GLSM since 2003.
