The main motivation of the proposal is to establish a systematic base for the activities being carried out by AID Hyderabad, while continuing to strengthen the existing functional mechanisms.





AIDís name has become much more visible and well-regarded in the public domain Ė particularly related to promotion of sustainable agriculture, Bt brinjal campaign, consumer outreach through Sahaja Aharam, and policy advocacy on agriculture issues like Seeds Bill, BRAI bill, Farmersí Income Commission, etc.





Main goals of the project are (1) Awareness and Advocacy campaign on Bt Brinjal and GM crops (2) Sahaja Aharam consumer cooperative providing access to healthy, pesticide-free and organic food, and linking consumers to small farmers practicing sustainable agriculture (3) Education quality improvement program in government schools (4) Relief efforts and revival of agriculture in flood-affected areas of Kurnool district (5) Human rights campaign and relief efforts for adivasis in AP and Chattisgarh internally displaced due to the violent campaign by insurgents and State agencies (6) Care of destitute patients in govt. hospitals and their rehabilitation in charitable homes (7) Building alliances with farmer unions and organizations, highlighting agriculture issues in the media, interactions with government officials and political leaders. Policy advocacy on many important agriculture issues such as seeds, biotechnology, prices, credit and market support, promotion of small farmer sustainable agriculture.
