MVF receives grants from Govt. of India Ministry of Education and Ministry of Labour. It also receives funds from CRY, UNICEF,ILO,UNDPand HIVOS (a Dutch human rights and development organization promoting voluntary action in third world).
Power changes in the central government led to a
revaluation of Ministry of Labours National Child Labour Project. Consequently this project was suspended for 1998-1999, thereby cutting off MVFs grant for time being. The project supports many organizations across India, and the review seems to be justified for the program on a national scale. But the decision to cut the project funding level has hit MVF very badly sice it affects the salaries of 200 para-teachers who reach 10,000 children.
The situation has led to a shortage of Rs 1.0 Crore for MVF. Therefore they are approaching various organizations for immediate help. AID-MN decided to contribute their share in supporting MVF for its current
needs and have granted $750.
