After the first phase of funding started - women doing embroidery in a makeshift classroom in Shivnagar, Distt. Banaskantha, Gujarat





Sarvodaya Kendra was founded in 1959. Presently it is working in 51 tribal villages of Amirgadh tribal pocket and 41 border villages of Vav Taluka in the northern Banaskantha district of Gujarat. Its main activities include - education, watershed development, organizing cattle camps, earthquake relief activities and craft development among the rural women





Sustainable Employment through Handicrafts





If provision of additional income generating programs are made, migration can be checked. In this context, handicraft activities, such as Ari and Suff embroidery, offer livelihood regeneration possibilities. With proper training and provision of sufficient raw material, 200 women in this region will obtain sustainable employment through handicraft.
