  Summary

 

 

AID India and 5th Pillar plans to continue the work by maintaining RTI training center so as to conduct training programs and awareness campaigns on the power of the Right to Information Act 2005 and how it can be best implemented as a tool towards fighting corruption. Recent statistics shows that corruption in India has been reduced by 15% due to the implementation of the RTI act. AID believes that by way of setting up the RTI training center and creating awareness, corruption levels can be reduced to a drastic extent.

1. Training Programs - - Covered 600 Colleges/schools in past 3 years - RTI service center for heads of organizations, etc 2. Awareness - Started monthly magazine Maattram in Tamil and English(www.maattram.com) - Zero Rupee Note 3. Helping Citizens - Established Hotline for consultation about situations - Help people approach Vigilance commission and CBI Anti-trust 4. Conducted Sting Operations 5. Campaign Activities - Human chain at Marina Beach

 

  Goals

 

 

Create awareness and educate people regarding the Right to Information Act 2005. Create awareness among the poor and illiterates to make the ACT familiar to them and guide them to make the best use of the Act. Curb Corruption in Government and Public Sector, both of elected representatives & officials and Prevent Corruption in Private Sector as well. Get support from other Pillars and extend support to other Pillars in fighting corruption Organize the “bribe-givers” against bribe and Make propaganda against corruption through campaigns and programs.
