Udyogini was founded in the year 1992 on the basic principle that in the current global scenario where the role of the state is slowly redefined from the welfare state to a facilitator state, the poor and the vulnerable section need to have better control over their resources to face the risks of uncertainty in the market. Udyoginis focus has been to empower women to understand and participate in critical enterprise processes. As the market gains prominence, the need for women to become knowledgeable, confident and lead enterprises just as they have led microcredit initiatives becomes critical.

Udyogini initiating ventures to initiate interventions to promote women tasar silk yarn reelers as entrepreneurs to form and manage their own company and to link their male counterpart-traditional handloom weavers of Quadirgunj cluster in Nawda, Bihar with up market high paying customers and exporters- through Udyogini’s Business Development Services
