At grassroots in about 10 villages.CHETANA-VIKAS has been and would be working with the poor; and socially, economically and biologically weaker, marginalized and deprived sections of society viz., toiling farmers esp. small and marginal with 0 to 10 hectares of land, landless labourers; women including the deserted and destitute; and so called lower castes and classes who also had been the denied sections of the society; providing them opportunities and important place, thereby making them real partners in the process of development; identifying and nurturing talent, engaging it for development. Criteria for the selection of beneficiaries / target groups Poor and marginalized rural areas, and priority to women. Villages which come forward with a willingness to develop after becoming aware and informed about various issues. Villagers who come forward to take up activities will be the pioneers for their villages. Those villages and villagers who are ready to contribute and develop on a participatory basis.





Soil and water conservation - Soil and water conservation work has been initiated by additional 21 farmers in 7 villages. In the fields, 104 acres have been covered with Inside-the-Field 75 contour bunds or graded bunds constructed by Village Engineers. 5 stone gully plugs have been built, which save the soil from running off. ''''''''Beej Swaraj'''''''' - About 2.24 quintal of seeds have been purchased in total by farmers and the degree of agro-biodiversity has been 19 crops in single field per farmer on an average. Farming for Self-Reliance - With new additions of farmers, 64 farmers from 7 villages have taken up "Farming for Self-Reliance" on 136 acres. Of these 14 percent are women farmers. Alternative Marketing - Higher price for agro-produce Environmentally sustainable technology Chemical free soils and environment Establishment of producer-consumer local link Aware and involved consumer Saving of energy-miles; Creation of environment-friendly miles Macro Level Work - Chetana-Vikas'''''''' Alternative Agriculture Resource Centre (AARC) is very extensively, and indepth, visited by activists, volunteers, NGOs, Network representatives, policy makers, scientists, Govt officers, farmers etc. The visits comprised of 771 person days this year (9 months).





Enhancing and improving on the environmental, ecological and technical aspects in Natural Resource Management of the villages & farmers'''''''' fields, thereby also mitigating and adapting for Climate Change Crisis. To develop and demonstrate the alternative scientific technologies which are easy, feasible and appropriate at Alternative Agriculture Resource Centre (AARC) & in farmers'''''''' fields. Introduction, consolidating and furthering of a system which ensures food, nutrition & livelihood security to farmer families - decentralized and affordable. Spill effect for consumers. Strengthen the direction, approach, methodologies and data in the proposed models of rural development for larger dissemination including at policy and advocacy levels. Identifying and nurturing potential talents and capacities of rural men and women as environmentally literate persons with Knowledge-Attitudes-Skills.
