Nearly 200-250 cases are seen at the Ganiyari clinic. Leprosy is a chronic and debilitating disease. That it has been eradicated or exists in very low numbers is a myth. The disease is highly contagious. It also affects livelihood of patients. Govt. program is not 100% effective and private treatment is very expensive.

Treatment regimen is different from that of Govt. and has been proven to be more effective More patients are showing up as treatment is almost free Attempts to make state and central govt. aware that the disease continues to be a menace in the state of Chattisgarh Wait times for getting medicines in govt. health care centers have reduced

To provide almost free treatment to leprosy patients to try and bring down numbers of cases By providing almost free treatment, to encourage more cases to come upfront for treatment To compile data over several years to be able to prove to Govt. that the disease has not been eradicated and changes need to be made to the current Leprosy control program to control the disease
