Mr. Bharat Patel has been serving in this region as a rights activist for the fisherfolk. His primary goal in the struggle against corporations is to ascertain the survival of the fishing community and to ensure the provision of basic rights to the community, that is, in general, poor and completely reliant on fishing as their means of survival. With the issue of fisherfolk losing their livelihood, intertwined is the problem of damage to the ecological balance in the area. Many corporations are not environmentally responsible and are hurting sensitive ecological systems such as the Mangroves in Kutch (Gujarat) in the process of development and industrialization. A goal of this project is to see some ground level changes in the way corporations and government deal with these sensitives areas and ensure their protection and preservation.
