  Summary

Sridhar is associated with the NGO Thanal based in Trivandrum, Kerala. Thanal has been at the forefront of agricultural and environmental activism and reform in the state of Kerala. Based in Trivandrum, they have been instrumental in advocacy for landmark legislation such as the Kerala Conservation of Paddy Lands and Wetlands Act, 2008, as well as a first of its kind Organic Farming Policy for the state. Along with policy research and advocacy, they have been heavily involved in campaigns including the anti-GM movement (I am no Lab Rat) as well as Ban Endosulfan, both of which have been successful. At the same time, they network extensively with farmers and environmentalists and have a concerted effort to protect, preserve and propagate traditional knowledge in the form of sustainable seeds and methods. They also run a Zero Waste Center in Kovalam, sourcing local waste and converting them to useful products, thereby generating employment.
