I propose to work on the following 4 broad issues for which I seek support in the form of a
Saathiship from AID Troy;
1. Energy Conservation and Use
2. Hydro Power Development
3. Sustainable Agriculture
4. Waste Management and Processing
I have been working on these issues for the past 5 years and seek to deepen my involvement as well
as carry forward ongoing work.
The Scope of my work, while being rooted in Munsiari, would extend to the state of Uttarakhand
and where relevant, to the Himalaya.
I would be working in close collaboration with various groups and civil society organization, in
particular with Himal Prakriti and Maati Womens collective and with Malika Virdi who is currently
and AID Saathi supported by AID Boston.

The work described is mostly ongoing by groups here (Munsiari / Uttarakhand) with me as a part of the groups. My work would be to continue to add depth, information and energy to such efforts as it the case with the Hydro projects in this valley and in Uttarakhand. In addition, I will explore some of the avenues for which we had not been able to provide time or resources- particulary with our on-going work with solar and other alterantive enegies. While some of the work lends itself to quantification and others do not - specially the advocacy, coordination and information outreach work. In the spreadsheet I have tried to describe what could "possibly" happen but the actual events are dictated by what is happening on the ground. The essential idea would be to respond to such changes that are happening at the policy level at the actual implementation level. Second aspect - much of the work is integrated with other efforts and is also dependent on getting additional resources to implement initiatives such as the solar/wind energy project, the SCI and waste management. Without additional resources the effort won''''''''t have the same impact but The time to get these additional resources would also be part of my work both as a precursor to the work and to enable it to happen. In case resources do not work out we would still end up with some knowlegde and a smaller group that is in tune and working on the issue / area.

We have over the years responded to the ground needs and have then evolved strategies and projects where needed to make a considered intervention. Support from you and AID Chapters will essentially enable and strengthen this method of working. I hope to share with you regular updates of the progress on each of the initiatives I have listed in the proposal so that we can then together assess impacts and outcomes and bring in any course correction should it be required.
