Overall objective of the project:
To build partners and advocate for continuum of maternal health and nutrition services at the local/block/district and collectively at the state and national levels

Specific objectives:
1. To increase demand for quality maternal health services
2. to increase access to and influence on prioritize local/district/state level policy and programme process for improvement of access to maternal health services of women from marginalized communities
3. To organize and participate, along with marginalized in advocacy activities and demand improved access to quality health services.

Coverage:
The project will be implemented in 12 villages of Patadi block, 12 villages of Santalpur block and 12 villages of Maliya block of Rajkot district.

  Goals

 

 

Project Pilot will run from January 2012 to December 2014. The objectives of the project is: 1) Increase demand for quality maternal health services amongst the Agariya women 2) Organize and participate, along with the marginalized Agariyas in advocacy activities 3) Increase access to and influence on priority local/district/state level policy and programmes which are targeted towards improvement of access to maternal health services of women from marginalized communities 4) Build partners and advocate for continuum of maternal health and nutrition services at the local/block/district and collectively at the state  and national levels 5) Train Village Health and Sanitation Committee Members (VHSCs) to address the needs of the women 6) Ensure improved access to quality health services to the Agariya women throughout the year through above activities The goals for the first year are: * Reach 2000 Agariya women for preliminary dialogue * Higlight sexual and reproductive health rights issues, and maternal and child health issues * Print 6 articles / news stories at a regional level The expected results are: 1) VHSCs will make written representation about issues/difficulties to PHC 2) Primary stakeholders will be aware and will complain if they are not getting services 3) Next season of the Agariyas, district health administration will plan during off season about reaching services to desert 4) The issue of women salt workers left without any benefit of maternal health services, and facing maximum risk, will be on the agenda in the state and district empowered committee
