PSA is constantly being approached by various groups on the ground for support with data, research, information and so on. PSA requests support to carry through research through its “Research Collective” and “Fellowship Unit” which will provide crucial research input and help to communities on the ground in their effort to save livelihoods. In 2014-15, the main challenge has been the land Ordinances where in the name of infrastructure development, there is a renewed attack on the land rights. PSA will renew efforts to bring together many of the groups. Undertake research to expose the claims of land scarcity, excess land in land banks and lying untilised with corporate houses, status of R&R and so on. PSA needs this to help the groups we work with in developing strategies, building arguments and provide support with developing critiques.

PSA has played a crucial role in supporting the formation of important national networks like National Fishworkers’ Forum (NFF), National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM), National Forum of Forest People and Forest Workers (NFFPFW), National Handloom Weavers Federation (NAHFED), National Federation of Natural Resource Based Communities and Traditional Working People (Fed NaReBaCo) and many more. In 2014-15, PSA was involved in organizing, nation-wide, various educational campaigns, actions and rallies about the land ordinance. This opposition by the people resulted in cancelling the proposed changes to the land acquisition act.

Key Activities that PSA will engage within this issue and framework include: 1. Documentation, Research and compilation on the issue of displacement, struggles and land rights 2. Organising national, regional and local (state) level programmes including workshops, conventions, conferences and roundtable meetings on the issue of land rights and displacement 3. Publication of reports, including fact-finding reports and studies on the subject 4. Advocacy, Campaign and Alliance Building on LAA, land rights issues and on R&R policies – also with focus on the past experiences of different people’s collectives.
