  Summary

 

 

Mukti is having a waiting list of nearly 600 amputees. Mukti, on its
own is
helping 70 amputees every month. We get equal No. of new amputees
every month
which makes our waiting list static.


Programmes:A) Artificial limb camps in all rural areas of
India to help physically handicapped
persons, who could not avail the
facilities provided by MUKTI at Madras.
Calipers for all the polio victims
(particularly young children) so that they
can continue with their education and
plan their future properly.

B) MUKTI has established artificial limb
workshops in A.P., Tamilnadu, Kerala,
Nepal, Bolivia, Guatemala, Malawi and
St. Lucia.

MUKTI would like to open similar workshop in
each district of India to establish a
complete infra structure to cater the needs
of the physically handicapped.
Plans: Start a Vocational Training Centre for
disabled persons. Training College to train
para medical staff in Prosthetics,
Orthotics, Physiotherapy, Speech-Therapy,
Occupational Therapy and Vocational
Counselling. Rehabilitation centre for aged
disabled persons to lead a peaceful retired
life.

Recently MUKTI also is assisting the service
organisation ACCORD which is representing to

features of the Rights of the Disabled Act
passed in the Parliament in 1995.

Recently MUKTI also is assisting the service organisation ACCORD which is representing to the Government to implement the salient features of the Rights of the Disabled Act passed in the Parliament in 1995.

 

  Goals

 

 

Rehabilitation of all types of disabled persons, not only physically handicapped. Vocational training in various fields and employment of all disabled persons is the immediate need, which is being actively carried out by MUKTI.
