Zero waste Kovalam is Thanals initiative

ZWK is a concept to tackle the issue of waste management and resource utilization in a manner that is
•Socially Just
•Environmentally Healthy
•Economically Beneficial to the local Community


As a part of the zero waste project thanal is training the poorer section of the local community ( mostly women ) on making environmental friendly products which could replace their plastic counterparts . This also serves as a income generation activity for them .



 
 

  Achievements

 

 

more than 3 sessions are over which were on paper bag making , cocunut shell products and gothic designs . Awaiting funds . Update Oct 2004 - Funds received . One training on coconut shell and another one on Tailor waste are over . Water kiosks are planned where locals can sell herbelly treated water - reduces the pet bottles in kovalam.
