  Summary

 

 

The present submitted project by Nutanhat Development Society, is on sustainable development program for 10 villages belonging to tribal and backward castes of Purulia I block, district Purulia, West Bengal.The initial project was for three years with the objectives of women and youth group mobilisation, survey/studies of natural resources and staff (HRD) development, and soil and water conservation. Their earlier small projects were supported by HIMOS, Netherland, Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi, IGSSS, New Delhi and MIVA, Netherland. This is the first time that AID is considering the project from this NGO, so the initial budget for the project $29,900 was rejected by the CSH. The modified project is mainly for the Soil and Water Conservation.

# To organise the Tribal women and men and facilitate the process of empowerment, so that they can fight for their rights. # To mobilise the village youths and motivate them to participate in the development porcess. # To document people''''s knowledge on indigenous helath practices. # To identify local resources based, culturally acceptable and economically viable programs. # To prepare a resource inventory for the 10 villages and on the basis of the findings of the study to prepare a comprehensive plan for 10 villages. # To train the Staff members (HRD) for attaining the above objective.
