Richa is a member of Sangtin, an organization set up under the auspices of Mahila Samakhya in Sitapur dt. This was done so that the work of womens empowerment would continue after Mahila Samakhya withdrew from the area. Richa Singh, along with 7 other members of Sangtin, collaborated on a journalling project that culminated in a book Sangtin yatra: saat zindagiyon mein lipti naari vimarsh, published in Hindi in June 2004. This effort helped the members of Sangtin develop a vision for their work independent of Mahila Samakhya. At the same time, backlash against some of the criticism published in the book ultimately resulted in Richa resigning from her job at Mahila Samakhya. Richa now plans to work full-time with Sangtin.

On apr 13th,2007 the AID-MN group met with saathi richa singh
and surbala.Had discussions on their sruggle for job cards, nrega etc. They also visited the san frncisco chapter.
An article has been written in the may newsletter of AID by leena ranade fm AID-MN.
Tel contact with richa singh & Leena on 8/26/07.We discussed what social audit means.SKMS is pushing for nrega jobs & money. The govt officials are falsely documenting extra hours of work, but paying for much lesser hrs.For ex they will pay cash for 2 hrs ,but on papaer write paid for 20 hrs.SKMS have had dharnas, they r insisting that the workers get paid thro bank accts ,that way there is better documentation. The mazdoors r opening bank accts.-leena ranade

Two members of Sangtin, including Richa Singh, are now full-time members of Sangtin and have no other source of income. Some money is being generated by a dairy and other sources of income are being explored. The group has a presence in Mishrik block, one of the areas that Mahila Samakhya will be rolling back from. However, due to scarcity of funds, their work is progressing slowly.

The goals of Richa Singh and Sangtin over the next few years are twofold: to achieve some measure of economic independence so that their activities arent limited by the priorities of funding agencies, and to develop more concrete interventions to some of the issues they have identified. They have been working to combat violence against women for the past 8-14 years and will continue that work in a more integrated manner. Additionally, they plan to grapple with the issue of lowering incomes of farmers and workers in the ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''chikan'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' industry, falling ground water levels etc. Their goal is to work with villagers to tackle the unique problems each village faces.
