Women at one of the six study centers

The project funds teachers who conduct classes in the villages. Teachers also go to the students home where necessary and continously monitor the progress of students. Permanant shelters to conduct classes will be constructed at a rate of one in each village per year. The two big villages will have two centers each.

One permanent shelter has been constructed. The village panchayat has donated land for the second shelter. Most of the attendees are women and there is a tremendous enthusiasm among older women, who did not have a chance to attend to school when young.

The project seeks to impart non-formal education among people of the fourteen villages of Barasat panchayat, who cannot attend a formal school due to various reasons. The traget age group is 6 - 40yrs.
