  Summary

Sevalaya is a NGO that has upliftment of the poor and destitute as its prime objective. It is running an orphanage at Kasuva village, near Madraa where more than 140 boys and girls are being taken care of. Sevalaya also runs a free school, imparting education to more than 400 children from Kindergarten through 10th standard. A free medical center has been instituted by Sevalaya that provides healthcare for the children of its school and orphanage; In addition Sevalaya also runs an old-age home for destitute elders.

In this particular project AID supported the NGO to dig a borewell.

  Achievements

The village in which Sevalaya is located had no school or medical facilities. Over the last few years, Sevalaya has been working towards improving this state of affairs.

  Goals

They are planning to initiate income generating activities towards self sustenance; the first of which is an agricultural endeavor. Sevalaya is seeking to begin farming of vegetables and fruits and have the staff and children of Sevalaya work on their own land (about 2 acres out of 5 acres). To carry out these work, water supply is required on a regular basis. Hence AID funded a borewell project.
