  Summary

The NGO - Sahayog trust has implemented a pilot program for mental rehabilitation of prisoners in jails in Maharashtra. They developed a curriculum based on Gandhian thoughts to supplement the efforts for physical rehabilitation of prisoners. The inmates take an exam based on the curriculum. The curriculum highlights the need for
1> Having a positive attitude
2> Overcoming feelings of vengeance
3> courage to admit the wrongs committed
4> penance to overcome the wrongs and improve oneself.

Based on the response received for their pilot project they want to improve the curriculum and expand the program to other jails in Maharashtra.
