The project aims to enable pollution impacted communities to monitor, document and communicate pollution and its impacts on health and environment in a language that regulators and industry cannot ignore.

CEM has the only baseline data for toxic gases in SIPCOT''s ambient air (due to study in 2004). Very successful in mobilizing communities to fight pollution such as the campaign against PVC Chemplast proposal in SIPCOT, Cuddalore.

(1) National Air Toxics Program - Develop a list of common air toxins in various settings; Help set standards for chemicals whose presence in air is not currently regulated; To push for upgradation of monitoring infrastructure of air toxics; Provide communities with simple tools to quantitatively monitor and hence fight pollution. (2) Auxiliary Goals - Grass-roots empowerment; Education and Awareness; Health
