  Summary

The struggle against the proposed Gundya Hydro Electric Project in the Western Ghats rain forests is gaining momentum with the KPCL and Karnataka deciding to start the preliminary survey work with police support, inspite of the widespread public opposition to the project.
This project is to support the struggle for human and environment angles that will get hugely impacted if this project goes through.
Please see proposal for full details. This project is Athirapally project multipled by a range of 10 to 50 and as such is a hugely destructive one for people and western ghats ecosystem.

  Achievements

Will be filled in once AID gets involved and we track the project.

  Goals

* Support the local struggle for human and environment angles that will get hugely impacted if this project goes through. * Support the human justice which will prevent the displacement of thousands and thousands of families (both agricultural dependent and forest dependent) * Work against the illplanned and unwanted dam and prevent the unparalled environmental disaster that is waiting to happen in pristine forests of Western Ghats of Karnataka * Know more about western ghats rainforests and build capacity as a chapter.
