Ritwik Bhattacharya

a beneficiary of the meals-on-wheels program.

The project seeks to establish a "Meals On Wheels" type program for disabled senior citizens, whereby a van will be used to deliver two meals a day to about 25 homes. A helpline will also be established to provide emergency health care to senior citizens in villages without a health infrastructure. The helpline will be administered through SHGs the NGO already runs in these villages.

Padmashree Society has bought a used Maruti van, and is using it to distribute meals to 25 elderly folks who are unable to come to the old-age day care center that they run. The helpline is also being used to report cases of destitute women and children. Sastriji himself has gone and rescued at least 3 such people.
