  Summary

AID started a new chapter in engaging with grassroots movements in Gujarat when we elected Anand Mazgaonkar as our latest Saathi. Anand is based in Rajpipla in Gujarat and is a senior activist with Paryavaran Suraksha Samiti (PSS) and National Alliance of Peoples Movements (NAPM).

  Achievements

Anand''s work has included a whole gamut of areas such as Jammu and Kashmir Interactions and Involvement, Land rights struggles in Kutch, Tribal Bill related work, NREGA related work, Umragoan Port Struggle, Globalization and its effects- SEZs, NAPM and Environment related work

  Goals

The concept of a Saathi is a natural extension of the AID Fellowship idea. From time to time we come across persons who are contributing to the empowerment and development of communities in India and have a vision similar to ours''. However, they lack the means to carry out their work. These are the people we nominate and elect to be our Saathis.
