ARTRC project is an innovative initiative by AID India, led by Dr. Dhanada Mishra. The project is aimed at rural empowerment via appropriate rural technogy initiatives and education. Diffferent initiatives have been undertaken in the first year of the project. These incldue block making techniques, bamboo work, cane work, pottery, tailoring, village libraries, night schools etc. This project tries to involve the students of JITM to take part in the project too.





1. Site has recently undergone electrification 2. Second mutli-purpose building was completed in Jan 07 3. Khadi workshop and blacksmithing moved to ARTRC from JITM site 4. Other trainings will start in ARTRC campus in the next few months 5. Plans to build Shaala (primary school) and guest accomodation 6. Focus on NREGA, social audits to expose corruption Offered and accepted construction of District Training Center for the government and eco-tourism amenities





The primary goal of this project is Empowerment of the village youth and the village women. The specific goals include: 1. Provide different trainings to the youth, for example, in the art of making mechanical compressed blocks, an alternative to bricks; in cane work, in tailoring, inorganic farming etc. The goal is to impart some skills to the youth so they feel empowered, they feel confident to start their own small entrepreneurship. 2. Provide tailoring lessons to women, start Self Help groups etc. to impart confidence. 3. Providing cycles to the school girls to encourage schooling, boost confidence. 4. Village libraries to impart discipline, to encourage reading, writing amongst the children and adults.
