The current project, ASHA, spread in ten remote villages of Purulia, WB, aims at increasing education level among the less privileged tribal and backward children. It also targets to reduce dropouts among the children.

Some of the activities of NDS are:
1. Facilitating education for the poor children in crèches
2. Orienting parents on child rights
3. Supporting women and child development programme (Hope for Children-UK)
4. Youth training programs on type writing and shorthand
5. Survey on HIV prevalence in Purulia
6. Campaign on safe drinking water, housing and sanitation
7. Capacity building for health workers
