  Summary

 

 

This project led by AID-Saathi Dayamani Burla, is primarily aimed at reporting on the lives of Tribals living in Basiya and Kamdaara in the Gumala District, in Karra, Torpa and Raniya Blocks of Khunti District, and in Bano Block of the Simdega District thereby bringing the attention of the mainsteam media to the plight of these people and how they are affected by various development measures. The project also looks to bringing about grassroots change in the region by spreading more awareness on the issues of the blocks, sharing of information/history, education training in modern technology. The ultimate objective of the project is to help the tribal community to find a foothold in the mainstream society and also strengthen mass uprising/resistance through sharing of information



 
 

  Achievements

 

 

At present, Dyamaniji is trying to bring about grassroots changes in Basiya and Kamdaara in the Gumala District, in Karra, Torpa and Raniya Blocks of Khunti District, and in Bano Block of the Simdega District. Education is being given. For this, reports of dialogs held with the Chief Editor of Prabhat Khabar are being published. Collections are being made of the folk songs in various tribal languages. These are yet to be published, but there are plans to publish this collection in several volumes.

 

  Goals

 

 

The broader goals of the project are as follows 1) Report on the issues of the blocks in Basiya and Kamdaara in the Gumala District, in Karra, Torpa and Raniya Blocks of Khunti District, and in Bano Block of the Simdega District in mainstream media and also to awaken the public of those blocks. 2)Make the social leaders/activists proficient in modern technology like the use of computers for reporting 3) Educate the youth on basic computer skills 4) Share the proud history of the region through the use of folk songs
