  Summary

Since the project spans over multiple years, AID projects requires multiple entries for the same project for each year. This is a duplicate entry of project ID 489, which just captures year 2007 activity. Project ID 727 captures year 2006 activity.

Counting, training, mentoring and resettling (CTMR) of the Dispossessed Solicitors (beggars) in the city of Baroda.

The project was initially to be carried over a period of 2

In 2006, AID Dallas approved $2000
For 2007, Dr.Devy got back saying that $1500 would suffice for that yr.

AID Dallas discussed and approved the $1500 for the year 2007 on July 25, 2007.

  Achievements

Initial Survey for DS completed. Manish from Bhasha working with group to document their stories. Small savings groups and documenation process has begun for some DS.

  Goals

The first step in this direction was a sample survey of about 500 DSs. The next step will be to issue identification documents to them. The third step will be to trace them back to the places of their origin, and to their places of present habitation. The fourth step will be to form Small Saving Micro-credit Self-help-groups (SHGs) out of these DSs.
