Girls enrolled in Non Formal Education (NFE) program

 

  Summary

 

 

Holistic development of disadvantaged children, including adolescents, in 10 slums of Patna through education, primary health services, vocational skill development and social, economical,political and organizational up-liftment of mothers and women.
The project funds the running of 10 Non Formal Education (NFE) centers.

 
 

  Achievements

 

 

Funding from 2007 has resulted in a) Enrollment in NFE & health camps 168 (63%) girls & 99 (37%) boys enrolled; 26 child laborers (10 boys + 16 girls) enrolled; 212 adolescent girls participated in health camps. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- b) During the year 86 students "graduated" to formal schools (25 in private & 61 in Govt. schools). c) Attitudinal shift and enhanced confidence amongst adolescents. d) Regular parent-teacher committee meetings to ensure regulation of NFE. e) Teachers are emerging as community resource persons on health, education & community mobilization. f) Established good relationship with families

 

  Goals

 

 

a) To educate 300 slum children through joyful learning, with special focus on girl child with inculcation of good habits and hygiene b) To organize & involve mothers of those children and other slum- women with some income generation activity towards economic upliftment c) To provide knowledge on reproductive Health, marriages and benefit of small family d) Vocational Skill development & functional Literacy to 150 adolescent girls e) To ensure better health condition in 10 slums through primary health services/camps
