AID Penn State has supported the projects by Navnirman (Vimukti) since 2001. Now the project in a stage when Activists who started the NGO are coming out of the management role. The leadership of the project is being transferred to local volunteers.

In this phase, the proposal is to support the local volunteers to take up the responsibility of the movement started earlier by activists.

AID Pittsburgh has voted to fund JMS for a total of one year for now. Please refer to project database item jms 2008 - ID# 547 for the first phase of AID-Pittsburgh involvement with JMS.

JMS is running various livelihood projects successfully. JMS has helped in implementation of NREGA in the region. The volunteers have been trained for organic farming, health care and tailoring and embroidery.

The main goal of this phase of the project is transition and ownership of the project to the local women volunteers from the sanghas.
