"Praja Chetna" in Telugu means Creating Awareness among the masses!
This project provides support to a few full-time coordinators who will organize agricultural labourers in 10 Mandals (administrative blocks) in Visakhapatnam district. Through the process of forming unions and collectives of unorganized labourers, mostly from Dalit, backward caste and adivasi families, it is expected that they can become stronger in working on land rights, receive their entitlements from the government, and press the government to protect their interests.

* To bring vulnerable communities of agricultural laborers together under one umbrella i.e., in the fold of APVVU (Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Vruttidarula Union). * To enable it to act up on the issues as well as put pressure on the state and central governments to bring in legislation towards protecting the agricultural labourers * To consolidate the unions in the Mandals where it is operational, and extend to new Mandals - so that the work is spread in 10 Mandals (blocks) * To turn union into a common forum for organized adivasis, dalits and backward castes and to play a catalytic role in marking the union work on the issues in the following sectors. 1. Adivasis, adivasis in non-scheduled areas 2. Dalits / Women 3. Agricultural labourers 4. Rural physically disabled
