This is the proposal for supporting Swetha Narayan Saathiship. Swetha Narayan will be working in SIPCOT-Cuddalore area in the areas of environmental protection.





1. Continue and strengthen the ongoing monitoring exercise in SIPCOT Cuddalore 2. Raise awareness among the community and strengthen the community opposition to new toxic facilities planned for SIPCOT Cuddalore 3. Bridge the gap between the SIPCOT communities and district administration authorities on the issues of reporting illegalities and immediate action/ regulations. 4. Build community network by working with different members in the region like children and women. 5. Take CEM tools to new communities across India 6. Build the Community Health Monitoring network. 7. Initiate a focus health study of the effects of carbon disulfide and hydrogen sulphide on the development of children in Eachangadu village of SIPCOT Cuddalore. 8. Lending solidarity to Bhopal campaign and other similar struggles on environment, health and toxics. 9. Providing assistance especially legal and research to communities engaged in fight against corporate crime and pollution, on request.





1. CEM intends to involve women, adolescent girls and village youth to engage them into the process of network and awareness building exercises on rights and environment. 2. Work closely with the Trichy and Nagapattnam communities in Tamil Nadu. Conductenvironmental and health surveys, scientific tests etc to strengthen their struggles. 3. Work closely with the groups in Goa and Mangalore and follow with the next phase of CEM activities. 4. Compile the practises and experiences of CEM in the last five years in a form of a manual for different communities. 5. Complete the health study of Children in Eachangadu village and build a local campaign based on the recommendations of the report. 6. Continue with the efforts to strengthen community resistance to new proposed toxic projects.
