Mono-culture of wheat/rice results in loosing traditional varieties which reduces bio-diversity. Mono-culture induces dependence on few varieties which increases risk if these varieties come under attack from environmental factors or pests

The project promotes seed conservations across 4 locations by constructing seed storage center, documenting different varieties, and having kitchen gardens. This would also supplement nutrition among the families. Crop diversity festival at the end of year will help promote the benefits further.

DRCSC is promoting bio-diversified farming system a) Collect seeds for wide range of species primarily for edible vegetable and leguminous crops. Some are non-commercial varieties. b) Setup Seed Center o Shared among the farmers group. o Seed after cultivation with 20% extra amount to be returned to the Seed Center c) Setup kitchen garden o Women traditionally good at this task and men often go to cities for work. o Will form a varietal demonstration trial field and encourage other farmers
